Why are your puppies so expensive? Aren't they just a mutt?
This question is asked all the time. Afterall, you could go to the local shelter and pay anywhere from $50 - $200 for a mixed dog, right? Our goal at D & L Doodles is to produce healthy, quality puppies for your family to enjoy for many years to come.
Each year we test our parent dogs to assure they don't have any heritable conditions. This includes having their hips, eyes, elbows, heart and endochrine system thoroughly tested. This costs approximately $900 per year, per dog.
For our parent dogsVaccinations and check-ups run approximately $300 per year, per dog.
For pregnant females, if an utlrasound is needed during pregnancy, add $200.
For pregnant females, xray to do puppy skull count $150.
Puppy vet checks: $200/litter
Dew claws removed: $100/litter
Puppy vaccinations. $30 per puppy
Early spay/neuter (done at 6 weeks of age) $150/puppy.
Parent dog food: $480/year + approx. $24 per puppy.
Puppy food: Approx $24 per puppy.
Total cost PER PUPPY..........................$435
